Then a strange darkness begins to grow in Rose's mind, and ghostly shadows warn of a terrible evil drawing nearer to the Academy's iron gates. In a heart-stopping battle to rival her worst nightmares, Rose will have to choose between life, love, and the two people who matter most... but will her choice mean that only one can survive?"

My Review:

This is probably my favorite book that I've read in this series! each book keeps getting better and better!

Rose is still trying to cope with the death of her friend Mason. She keeps going into this extremely unhealthy place and it seems as if she's going crazy...

Lissa and Adrian are learning more about spirit every day, and are spending a lot of time together. Christian starts to get jealous of how much time they are spending together even though Lissa keeps reassuring him that there is nothing going on between the two of them.  Rose and Dimitri's relationship keeps progressing towards the end of the book. But Adrian keeps trying to impress Rose. It's actually super sweet! Unfortunately the spirits Rose is seeing becomes to much to handle, luckily she has Dimitri to fall back upon.

Major battles happen between the Strigoi and Dhampir's during the whole book; and Moroi are willing to help. In this book you get to see the idea of Moroi starting to fight alongside Dhampirs, and they're making very good progress. Towards the end of the book Rose and Dimitri go off into battle to save a good friend (but I can't tell you who, because spoilers, lol) On a more serious note, the unbelievable happens. The one person she loves most is in a deadly situation.... Rose has to make a very hard decision... Does she save her best friend, or the love of her life?

This was a great book! The character development was written sooooooo well (you know it's great when I use 7 o's, lol) The relationship between Rose and Dimitri is so sweet and the ending broke my heart... When reading this book you can definitely tell there is a bit of resentment coming from Rose towards Lissa. She was realizing that because she had to protect Lissa she would almost never see Dimitri. Rose wants to live her own life. I really liked this aspect of the book because I honestly think I would feel the exact same way. The whole book was action packed with Strigoi battles, which I think is pretty awesome! I definitely recommend this book to everyone!

I give this book 5 out of 5 stars!
