My Review:
From the first chapter I knew I would love this book, and my assumptions were correct! Vampire Academy is an action packed romance book with all kinds of magical elements to it!

Rose Hathaway is a Dhampir, half vampire, half human. Rose is one of the only Dhampir women to train to become a guardian. Guardians are Dhampirs that train and become protectors of royal Moroi, royal vampires. Lissa is Rose's best friend, they share a very special bond. Rose can see and feel Lissa's emotions. Lissa is the last in her royal bloodline, her parents and brother got killed in what the characters refer to as "the accident". So when Rose and Lissa ran away it became a very big deal.

With the academy doing everything to find them, and the constant threat of Strigoi trying to kill Lissa; The best friends are always on the move. Once they get caught and brought back to St. Vladimir's, Rose found out that she has a lot of catching up to do. At this point all her classmates surpassed her in training. Rose gets assigned extra training with a guardian named Dmitri. The book is about Rose trying to balance her feeling's for Dmitri while also trying to protect Lissa. Throughout the book Lissa learns about her magical gift. Rose has to uncover that maybe the biggest threat to Lissa is Lissa herself...

The whole book is action packed and keeps you on the edge of your seat! The romance between Rose and Dmitri was written so well. It didn't feel like a lot of YA books where it's rushed and kind of cheesy. The character development was amazing! Rose really matured throughout the book, but she still has to figure out what she truly want's in life. All the different kinds of vampires were explained very well, except the names were a little hard to pronounce. Vampire Academy has such a complex plot that makes you feel like you're really in this fictional world. Overall the book was amazing and I will definitely be picking up the rest of the series! (I've already finished Frostbite the 2nd book!)

I give this book 5 out of 5 stars!
