My Review:
The Giver is a book about the choices people make, and how destructive and angry society had became. To fix this problem the leaders of "our" dystopian world have come up with a system to stop all problems the world faced. They call it sameness. With sameness famine, war, jealousy, natural disasters, etc. are stopped... But sameness comes at a price... With this system there is no colors, love, or individuality. People have been brainwashed. Except for a few special people like Jonas and The Giver.

The Giver was chosen to become The Receiver a long time ago. The Receiver holds the memories of the whole world. The Community leaders did this so no one would have to experience love or pain. The leaders believed if people had those things they would make wrong decisions. So instead of having love and memories they decided to take them away so people wouldn't make wrong choices. Jonas was chosen to become the new Receiver; which meant The Giver has to pass all the memories down to Jonas. Jonas started to see color and experience emotions and realized that it was wrong for the community to take away these things and the Giver and him had to do something about it...

The Giver was written extremely well! The character development was written beautifully, the change that Jonas went through was so realistic. It broke my heart reading about how there was no more love in his world. It really makes you question how it had gotten so bad... So bad that the world thought a corrupted system called sameness was better than seeing all the wonderful things life has to offer. The world could have been written more descriptively I got how the government worked , but I personally couldn't visualize it.(When I saw the movie it started to come together.) Overall The Giver is a great book for people of all ages and it teaches a very important lesson to the reader.

I give this book a 5 out of 5 stars!
